The Global Buddies really enjoyed their visit to Footprints Environmental and Recycling Center in Cape Town. One of the challenges that the Buddies will have to face in their lives is the environmental crisis.

Learning about the environment and how to protect it is part of becoming both a better global citizen and global leader. At Footprints, they learned about the environment and our precious resources and how to protect our earth.

The youngest Global Buddy, Teddy was a surprise inspiration. He stood up and took initiative to save “the earth” in the exercise they were working on, and soon inspired all his other Global Buddies to join him in the effort, showing that one person alone can inspire change in their community.

This is an awesome project, and it’s essential to get the kids involved so they can make a difference to the future. But we mustn’t forget the parents, who have a big part to play right now. I’ve found Clearer Conscience, a great organization who will give different bins for different products, and come and pick up your recyclables from your home (www.clearer.co.za). Good luck to them. Action is needed NOW!
